Frank Baum series (Wizard of Oz), but that's definitely better read when she's a bit older. She's in college now and won't let me read to her anymore. I miss that SO-O-O much. After Stuart Little we read Charlotte's Web, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Then we read Little House in the Big Woods and Farmer Boy. That was followed by the first 2 or 3 Narnias, and then back to Little House on the Prairie. Now we're starting On the Shores of Plum Creek. She's able to pay attention more and more with each book. At first she would play with small toys or bounce on her bed until we got to exciting parts. When we started Plum Creek she was so excited to learn more about Mary and Laura that she quietly sat next to Rob for the first 2 chapters without even asking to see a picture. I think that we might have started young, and she knows a lot of the plot now and won't be surprised when we read them later, but she has really enjoyed them anyways. She asks for particular chapters to read as short stories all the time. Especially the Prairie Fire and A Scream at Night. I keep wanting to start it with D1 and D2 but then afraid to start for fear they won't really enjoy it yet. I don't want to take the glow off things by starting them too soon. And she is getting big!
