John H convinced us. We’ve joined emusic. Here are some recordings we can’t get enough of lately:
From left to right:
1. M. Ward – Transfiguration of Vincent – M. Ward is spectacular. He hasn’t written a song that won’t knock your socks off, especially if you’re a sucker for lo-fi alt-country Americana and strong guitar work.
2. Evangelicals – So Gone – These guys came as a total surprise to me, but I can’t get enough of them. No worries about the name, they’re not even a tiny bit CCM. Imagine a mix of the Flaming Lips and Wilco, and you might get a faint idea of what they’re like.
3. The Be Good Tanyas – Hello, Love – The Be Good Tanyas are always great for bluegrassy Americana. I’m not sure if this record is as good as their earlier work, but it’s still well worth listening to.
